𝑨𝑺𝑷𝑬𝑻𝑻𝑨 means ‘hold on’ in Italian. It’s something you’d say to someone in a right tizzy, rushing around, hitting their foot hard on the gas. margomool started writing the music at the end of 2019. Feeling overworked and overwhelmed by how they and the world was moving fast without much intention, they wrote about taking time to pause and reflect on this strange state of being and whether it’s serving us. margo and their band performed it for the first time in January 2020. Then COVID hit and the songs became manifest.

The music bubbled away in the background while margomool created and shared their debut EP 'misconceptions'. At the beginning of 2022, margo got an opportunity to record music. A week before they were due to record, COVID came again, this time hitting the artist's vocal cords and chest. margo didn’t take on the message of the songs, pushed through post-covid fatigue and did the recording session. It took them around 4 months to recover their vocal strength and energy. This is a fraction of what a lot of people experience as result of COVID, but it was enough time for margomool to get their priorities in order when it comes to looking after themselves.

Making this music has taught the artist that rest is necessary, that our bodies are great and complex, that repeating the smallest menial movements can change your life, that productivity does not equal worth, that energy is a precious and expansive thing that needs to be nurtured.

margomool hopes the music speaks to anyone whose freedoms have been limited by a world that doesn’t welcome rest. They hope listening to 𝑨𝑺𝑷𝑬𝑻𝑻𝑨 gives you a moment of pause. Sending much love to you <3
